I can't see the blade etch very well on those coonstripe 4-1/8 trappers. But the coon as a shield tells us that those are first generation. But if Tom wanders by I'm sure he can fill us in as they made about a half dozen different coonstripe knives in the first generation alone, 3 with a coon shield.

That looks like a nice Tobacco Jumbo Congress also. That looks like a first generation Green bone, BKC 328, 1 of 300 released in 1985.

I kind of new to Bulldogs here are somemore pics of the blades, also the BKC # is this on the blades or is it just a # made up by the BullDog Knife Club? These coon knives are 1st gen like you said but which ones??

You better get those tortoise shell handles off that fight'n rooster or keep it out in the garage away from your others. That green tint is a neon sign for "gassing occuring here".

OK got the bulldog trappers pg 19 PKTG 400 made of each 125$ each; cool beans. Ya the FiightnRoster will need some TLC all in question will have their own sleeping spot, in total I have about 15 cel knives coming.

Not a whole lot left of that FR if that used to be a tortoise shell celluloid. I have some Bulldogs I bought that way that are supposed to be tortoise shell celluloid and they are green and ready to crumble, BUT they can be restored.

BKC is Bulldog Knife Club.

The English is is BKC 92
The Treeing Walker is BKC 93
The Bluetick is BKC 94

All are 1 of 400. Where you see the -A and the shield is an Acorn, those are Second Generation and 1 of 36. I always thought that the second generation should book for more as they are usually far more rare.

That's one of the more confusing aspects of the books, First and Second are mixed together. Folks don't always know that, I see that on ebay listings all the time. Nice set!

As for the FR is it worth alot ?? I have no clue on the age or value of that knife. OR given the shape it's in would you recommend maybe getting it re handled in lets say some awsome mammoth Ivory?

I don't know much about the pricing of Fightin' Roosters but I would make my decision on rehandling based on the condition of the blades, everything else is replaceable, liners, bolsters pins, and backsprings need to be checked on any outgassed knife. So how much I want to spend is based on how much it's worth in the first place and what the blades look like. You can put a big bowtie shield back on but I wouldn't unless the knife was of great enough value.

So, that's how I did it with the Bulldogs I have that outgassed. I need to make a backspring yet, but I prefer to make 2 backspings on the 1 of 6 stockman I have. I'll put my name inside the liners so folks will know it's been rebuilt.
