Nice little pen knife. It’s handles are celluloid. Without the maker’s catalog it’s hard to say what description they used. Id call it celluloid swirl. ::shrug:: One of the feature characteristics of celluloid is it can be made just about any color or combination of colors.

Reminds me a bit of butter and molasses celluloid.

Maybe a little Mark. But to avoid confusion here’s an old post with some butter and molasses examples. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... 9#p1037349

When I first saw the knife I thought of Pyromite. (sp)

Welcome here George.
There can't be too many of those knives around with that stamp; Lakeside.
"Lakeside" was used by Montgomery Ward from 1920-1930.
Nice little sleeveboard pen. ::nod::

Houston Price says they were made by CHALLENGE Cut. Co. and yes, sold by Ward's. First one I've ever seen. Nice. J.O'.

Yes,an early Wards brand,and most were made by Challenge. I'd call it a green/ gold swirl celluloid.

Personally, me, myself and I, have always called that pattern Onyx, regardless of its color.
