All About Pocket Knives

I’ve been trying to research this Buck 693 I picked up recently as a gift for a friend who loves Buck knives…I’m clearly not an expert because I didn’t notice upon purchase that each side of the knife handle has a different type of camo pattern. Is this something that Buck would do or has someone modified this? I couldn’t find a Buck 693 made with the brighter green camo and now I’ve gone down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what I have…I don’t want to gift a Buck if it’s not 100% a Buck. Any information or expertise you can share will be appreciated.

The handle sides look like Mossy Oak camo. A Mossy Oak camo parka has a small number of green leaves. My guess is the small handle sides are random pieces cut out of a large sheet. While most small pieces would have no green some would. I think it is the way it left Buck. Your friend will love it.

I have no doubt the handles of your knife are original and genuine.

According to the Buck Knives website, they use a process called "hydro dipping" to create the camo patterns on their knife handles (at least that's what is says about their currently available knives with Mossy Oak pattern handles). Each handle is individually printed, and I would imagine that each handle piece has it's own unique camo design. I also doubt that they bother to try and make the handles of any individual knife match.
