10th Anniversary Tip Bolster Knife

It will be 10 years ago this late summer/early fall that I began doing pocket knife repairs. I bought a bag of old knives from a guy at our local flea market just to have some to practice taking apart, putting back together. I didn't realize at the time that what I had bought were tip bolster knives. There was an Iroquois, Clover brand, Utica, and a couple of Kents. Most had a lot of rust on them from a problem that I now know to be celluloid outgassing. I also did not realize at the time that these were going to be somewhat challenging because the scales on tip bolster knives are usually very thin. I had a lot of scrap of exotic wood on hand, so that is what I used to do the rehandles. Some of them turned out, some of them didn't. Anyway in thinking back on that time, I recently acquired a Kent tip bolstered jack that had bad celluloid handle material. I decided to call this the 10th Anniversary Knife to commemorate this time. I had been saving a piece of giraffe bone that was too thin to use on more conventional bolstered knives, but it worked perfect on this Kent.

Very nice work all around! How about that one with the integral shield, wasn't that fun to work on?

I have not tried giraffe bone before. It certainly spruced up an old knife! You did a great job on it, OC!
