All About Pocket Knives

Hi I am new to collecting and new to this web site. I just purchased a 70 somthing stag trapper off ebay, and can never see all the dots under the usa, no matter what position I place the blade in. Is this common? Thanks.

Hi Dennis, Since Case Knives produced during the first dotted era (the 1970's) had the dots on bottom under the U.S.A. this is sometimes a problem but not always. I suggest opening the blade in the half open position and then try to view the dots under a lighted loupe. Many times you will be able to see the very top of the dots almost hidden completely under the bolster. If you still see no trace of the dots then you must assume that the knife was produced during the U.S.A. era (1965-1969)
