All About Pocket Knives

I was going through some boxes out in the garage tonight and came across a couple of knives I forgot I had. I haven’t seen these in about 15 years or so! (At least two moves…) About 8 or 9 months ago I became more interested in knives as more than just tools and started enjoying researching them and seeing a different “value” to some that I had, and some that I wanted to acquire.

The 152 was given to me by a friend of my wife’s who’s father had passed way, along with some other hunting clothing and gear. From the research tab I think I’ve learned this knife was made from the years 1973-2004? I would imagine that had seen its way around a deer or two of his over the years.

The 6OT I recall having as long as I can remember, but for the life of me I can’t recall exactly where or when I got it. I would have sworn I had it as a kid but from what I found here is that that knife was only made from 1995-2004. If that’s the case, this was not my childhood knife I thought it was.

Maybe this will motivate me to unpack more boxes from the garage! I bet have more surprise knives in store. I know I’ve got boxes and boxes of baseball cards! I’m sure they will hold more monetary value than these two knives. But now that they are in hand I’m going to put them to use.

A couple of knives, several tools (mostly my great Granddad's stuff from the '30s) my Dad's entire diecast collection from the '70s (all of which were like-new and well cared for), great-Granddad's watch making tools (and great-great Grandpa's 1890s Standard pocket watch he used on the railroad), and my Nintendo DSi.

I personally prefer the 6OT to Buck. It's a sturdier knife, the sawcut Delrin handle provides a decent grip even if your hands are greasy/wet, and the rounded corners mean more comfort from extended use. The Sharpfinger is "just enough" knife for 99% of chores, doesn't get in the way like a larger blade, and the blade shape does just about everything well.
