I'm pretty sure I have seen these in a reference book, but have not been able to figure out which one yet.

I cannot tell you about the knives, but Blue Grass or Bluegrass, was a line of quality tools that were sold in Belknap Hardware Stores.

I suppose the knives were made to honor or commemorate that.

Belknap Hardware was a hardware wholesaler located in Louiville, Kentucky. They were a very large and well known company and were founded in the mid 1800's - went out of business in 1983.

Belknap sold cutlery under the JOHN PRIMBLE and BLUEGRASS trademarks - their older pocket knives are well regarded by collectors.

After Belknapy ceased business, Bluegrass Cutlery in Ohio acquired their trademarks and continued having some pocket knives made with the Primble and Bluegrass brand names.

The knives that you have are all relatively new - based on the photos I see some late 1970's era knives made by Boker USA for the original Belknap Hardware company and many that are newer than that - made by Utica for Bluegrass Cutlery.
