All About Pocket Knives

I ran across this S&M for sale on ebay and the pic is of the exact knife I purchased here several months ago. I can't remember who I purchased it from or I would have reached out to him directly. I searched sold items but didn't see it there. Here are the 2 pics. The first is my purchase, the second is from ebay. Maybe it's the same seller using a stock pic? You can see the jigging is identical.

Rick, it is probably someone who is just using that photo. I’ve had people cut and paste my photos from AAPK to eBay and sell an item that they are portraying as that knife but it isn’t. Also on eBay when you list an item you can actually just click on an item and list it as similar and it will pick up those pictures. Not a scam just someone that is probably not skilled at photography or just too lazy to take their own photos. It’s a risk to the seller to do this since the knife will not match the photos and the buyer could easily return it based on that alone.
There are several sellers in Japan that keep doing this to each other. You will find identical photos of the same knife listed by different sellers in Japan. One seller, who is copied the most, even calls out these other sellers and tells you not to buy from them since they aren’t using their own photos and are using his. Wish this didn’t happen but it has happened to me several times. I guess some sellers like the photos that I take.

There are numerous ebay sellers that use “stock photos”. Some tell you that in their description, many do not. Some say the knife you receive may not be identical to the pictures. I see it frequently on the listings of new knives. One thing to watch for is when the listing says something like “x sold, x remaining”. Caveat emptor!

I guess I was feelin ornery the other day and sent the seller a message about the photo. Let him know I had the exact knife pictured in my collection. The ad is gone now.
