Not much else to know except maybe how many that he made for them. It is an 858 Old Timer. A significant amount of $ value there. The base model from which he worked had the standard stockman arrangement of 3 blades: clip, spey and sheepfoot. I believe all years for that pattern had stainless steel blades, but which were not necessarily stamped with the plus sign to indicate stainless. The red stag was Herman's proprietary formula. There may or may not be a serial # stamped inside the knife on a liner. The correct box is important to save. A wonderful knife!

thanks for the info, the number is on the bolster didn't show up in the photo and Williams is on the insides of the liner, just wondering what would the round about value be?

The value cannot be more than an opinion until after it is sold. I believe that there are folk who might give $300 for it, maybe more.

Here is an, "OLD TIMER" that likely was NOT made by Herman. ::ds:: Bought this on ebay a long time ago. Background is one inch squares.
