Is silica gel dessicant harmful to either knife handle material (bone,
stag, horn, plastics or other synthetics) or knife steels( 1095hc, various stainless, damascus)?
Thanks,

Not that I've ever heard and I've used it 20 years and many years in a safe with knives.
Only place I know to get it in bulk is Cabela's.

I book marked it because they call it something else by a search and I kept forgetting.

Thanks Hukk, I'll post an alternate source if I find one. It's good to be in a chat room with a lot of knife professionals.
Thanks,

Go to Wal-Mart and get a package of tube socks and a large jug of Purina Tidy Cats Crystals.
Poor mans silica gel solution....

I thought someone posted earlier that disposable baby diapers have the same thing. I could be wrong.
