All About Pocket Knives

as far as collector value. I'v had it since the early 70's but never carried or sharpened it. I got it out the other day and saw a sickening sight. The blades had rust and some were pitted. What is it worth now, with the pits?
It has 10 dots. Blades are mirrow shiny but have some pits.

Its not ruined, but the collector value has been diminished somewhat. Diehard mint Case collectors would probably pass on the knife now. But 10 dot stag Cases are in high demand right now. I would't want to qoute a specific price on your knife, as I'm not a Case expert, but I'm sure you could still turn a handsome profit on the knife if you decide to sell. Be sure to keep it well oiled to prevent any further damage.

This is a highly collectable pattern. Stag people will buy it as an interrim knife. Sure the high end people won't touch it but others will. I wouldn't toss it away. You might consider trading or selling for something more to your interest. Obviously it isn't super important to you so why not use it towards one that is??? Just my thoughts. I am always trying to upgrade my knives. If I find one that is better, for instances this weekend I sold reproduction Crandall so that I could buy an orginal. The original is worn, but in the big world, I would rather have the old one.

Now I just have to figure out what a fair ballpark figure is to the value of this knife. I have been out of the knife trading for 20 years and I am like a newbe again,

I'm not a Case guy, but I know that knife. Give me a couple of days and I'll can you know an average live auction cost around here is.

If you use eBay Search Under Collectibles>Knives,etc>Type"Case 10 Dot Stag, 5462? pattern number". Be sure to checked 'Completed Box' on left hand margin. That will look back 30 days for prices paid there.

I can confirm there's a market, at least a market of one. I actually look for older Case CV's with some pitting sometimes, so I can buy it and USE it without the guilt associated with marring a mint 30 year old knife. I'd e-mail you with a offer right now, except that I just sunk a big wad (big for me anyway -- I'm not rich like El Lobo ) into one of those Queen Mtn Man lockbacks in Sambar and 1095 so my knife budget is blown for a little while.

Let us know if you put it up for auction! I'll sure take a hard look at it.

I saw the guys over at the Schrade forum were razzing you about being rich after you bought that BEAUTIFUL fixed blade changer.

And you probably thought you were safe here...

It's not safe to go in the water anywhere anymore.

Maybe not even in Belmont Shores.

It is too bad about the above Case knife, but, as you mentioned, it would be a dynamite user/carry.
