All About Pocket Knives

I am on a new kick Making electricians knives single blade liner locks. The Camco I added rear bolsters and green bone handles. I really like this knife. The only issue is one pin shows I repined it 2x and it still shows so I left it alone no use sanding the bolster off. The second knife is a Camillus in canvas micarta. I left it a bare head just to see how it turned out. Not bad but I think it needs a different color handle to make it pop!! Just wanted to share.

I've done "a couple" of these. You're on the right track, they look good. Blending pins so they don't show is one of the harder things to master, I still have issues with it.

I think that's why many custom makers use SS.

Ditto on the pins. Sometimes they blend in, sometimes they never will.

Thank you both for your comments. The pins showing in the bolsters drives me crazy. I had a Schrade 123ot I could not hide the pin on. I repined it so many times that the bolsters were paper thin I had to make new ones. lesson learned. Thanks again for sharing. If you guys have trouble sometimes it tells me, it must be hard

Ditto Nev. I wish that I could figure out some kind of magic trick that would work every time, but no dice.

Same thing with me, no consistency with getting the pins to disappear. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Main reason why I just work on my own stuff. Your two customs look great.

You are right Herb. Sometimes I think I figured it out then I see them on the next knife. Very frustrating

Oh I am so glad to see these utility knives being customized. Not only do they look fabulous, you have restored my belief that if one loves a knife, it's worth customizing. As a career communications tech, my "electrician's" knife is actually a 1989 Klein Sportsman 44037 (Think Buck 110 by Klein Tools). This gem is and has been my best friend in the tool world, and now that I am retired from telecom, I have been kicking around the idea of having the bolsters engraved like you see many do with their Buck's. In fact, been looking at some customized sheaths to dress it up some as well.

When wearing this on the job, the industrial look was just fine - no sense drawing too much attention to one's tools. But now, I am not seeing any reason not to pretty it up some and wear it as an EDC. Looking at the fine work here just reinforces my thoughts on this.

Once again, nice work on the Camco and Camillus. These old work horses have some new life breathed into them. And the Case...(envy envy envy).

Really nice looking mods, Barry. Might have to think about that for my Case three Blade electrician's knife.

Being a huge fan and small time collector of electrician’s knives and TL-29’s I find the customizing that you guys have done, to make it to your liking, very cool. I don’t know how to customize-YET, but hoping this old dog can learn new tricks. Nice work gentlemen.
