Just another Texican

Well, howdy from the Great State of Texas.

Currently residing about 20 miles South of Houston.

I retired April of 2024, after 48 years of working in the electrical trades.

Mom named me Ken, but my screen name is Texican57.

57 is the year I was born.

Texican is not a mispelling of Texan, but it is something I have been proud of ever since I learned what an ancestor is/was.

Ancestors on my Dad's side, settled South of the Red River, on land they obtained through land grants from Mexico.

At that time any lands South of the Red River belonged to Mexico.

This was taking place before Texas became Texas.

I'm a rare breed Native born Texas.

Why did I drop in on this site?

Wife and I got together 28 years ago.

We both had a shoebox of various knives, obtained from various people, for various reasons.

My Dad (89) passed in 2014 and added another shoebox to the gathering, plus axes, hand axes, a battle ax or two, and bow saws.

All three shoeboxes were shoved in the closet in 2014, were they stayed for a long while.

My Mom passed in 2024, adding a few more knives to the box.

So here I am researching and learning.

I posted my question about an Imperial knife a day or two ago.

I was informed, since I'm the new guy, that my post will need to be reviewed, before it can be posted to the forum.

Looking forward to picking brains.

Ken
