I saw this new USA made Old Timer on eBay and threw a low bid in - ended up winning it for less than $13.00 shipped.

These new OT's have been diwscussed out here, thought some may be interested in a "hands on" report.

These are made by Bear.

This one is a model 94OTG with 1095 cabon blades.

This is a "tiny" trapper at 3" closed.

I can say that it is 100% well made and well finished, no flaws and very nice overall.

Bone handles, NS bolsters, and the liners are either NS or SS.

That said, hard to say if it is worth the prices that they sell for - list price is $79.95 and they are available for $65 to $75. Seems like a lot of $$ when a Case Mini Trapper (larger knife at 3-1/2" closed) is readily available with amber bone handles for $62.99.

Nice looking knife and one heckuva deal. Even though I have not had one in hand, I would agree they seem to be overpriced atMSRP.

Nice deal! Been thinking about trying the Bear version of the 5OT, as the Chinese-made one was terrible compared to a USA 5OT. But, it's expensive compared to anything regular catalog--or even OEM like those made for Bass Pro/Cabela's or Moore Maker. Honestly, there's no reason why they shouldn't move up to Bear's Mini Trapper pattern and lower the price to compete with Case.

My only problem--they call this the 94OT, which was somewhere between a Mini Trapper and the full Trapper as ISC USA Schrade. Yet, it's a Tiny Trapper. I have a couple of these under different brands. Not a bad size, but I personally have problems using the tiny nicks (the Remington version had a longer pull on both blades--meaning it was easier to open). Honestly, it would've been better value had they used Bear's Medium Trapper pattern.

I've had Bear knives in the past, and was underwhelmed. This one looks great though. I think the size is unique & that alone wants me to try one. I like the shape of the clip blade much better than the Case mini-trapper also. Wish they made it in a thin single blade version though ...

Yeah the quality is 100% on ths example.

Another option - Bear makes this same pattern for Moore Maker with 1095 blades and yellow Derin handles.
