Interesting old knife!
What do you know about the hole and "cut outs" on the blade? Is it art work or is there a purpose for them?

I have no opinion about the authenticity of your knife. But, there is at least one place that still makes knives that are very similar.

Okay, the site Mel referenced showed a replica knife and the similar cut outs to Scott's knife were referred to a piercings.
Help an ol' man out and explain what the intended use of the piercings.

Opinions are a lot like noses, most folks have one.
Some of the opinions or statements are logical and some not so much.
At least I learned what a Spanish Notch is when it comes to a knife blade.

Looks like both the knives came out of the same shop based on the same HB lettering on the handle. The blade grind on the OP knife is not what you would find on an authentic old knife. The dull grey finish on the blade is the product of artificial aging. Likely by using ferric chloride etching solution on carbon steel.

Over on “The Muzzleloader forum” there is an interesting thread on Hudson Bay camp knives. If your interested do a search and check itout. Some serious students there of Hudson’s Bay goods. I like knife and if I had found it probably would have bought it too. However I have doubts it’s a genuine Hudson’s Bay knife. BUT it’s still a neat knife.
