Picked this one up recently and really like it but cannot for the life of me find anything about what model it is. Ideas?

I've never seen a Buck knife like that. Whenever I see the "BUCK" name along the spine and the only marking of "USA" on the tang, it raises red flags...for me, anyway. Furthermore, Buck does not make the thumb hole for opening on their knives that I'm aware of. I may be wrong in my analysis, but personally, I believe your knife is a fake. imho

Looks similar to some pictures I found online of the Buck model 281.

Considering that yours has a key ring on it, it might be a smaller model in that series.

Well, I stand corrected as far as the resemblance. Still, the lack of the model # on the OP knife continues to raise that flag. Plus the insignia on the belt clip seems a bit odd. ::shrug::

Thanks for posting, Rick. ::handshake::

I agree that the lack of the model number raises a flag.

Additionally, the lack of a date symbol. Being a liner lock, it’s unlikely that the knife was made before date codes started in 1986 but not unlikely enough to completely rule it out.

If legitimate, the blade should have a model number stamped on it at the very least and most likely a date symbol as well.

I recently had a knife marked Buck, but no pattern number. I called Buck and ended up emailing a photo to them for help. They got right back with me advising that my knife was a counterfeit. Mine was a different style knife than yours but I suspect they would be glad to help on yours. Give 'em a call to start the process.
