Never seen one like it. Interesting. Is the handle cast aluminum ??

Yes cast aluminum. Made by David Murphy during WW 2. Later Murphy was the maker of early Gerber knives that business relationship went south resulting in Murphy’s bankruptcy. Nice section in Levine’s guide about Murphy.
