1930's? Military Fixed Blade ID?

My buddy found this fixed blade in his father's things. He knows it was his grandfather's knife. There are no markings on it but doesn't look like it was ground or sanded to death. Anyone have any ideas on the maker or history of this gem? Or where I can find out info?
Thanks.

The knife appears to be a Mark 2 knife from WW2. These weren't made until 1943 so it can't be older than that and they are still made. Odd that there are no marks on it since I think they were all marked. Are you sure there are no marks on the front of the guard or ricasso and no evidence of ground off marks at those places? Your photos are too dark to see any details, better photos may help identify it.

This the best I can do. Doesn't appear to have been ground down or sanded to death.

Absolutely nothing. I even went over it with 0000 steel wool.

So as I was talking with the buddy that gave me the knife, I found out his grandfather got it in the military in Saskatchewan CA. Maybe this little tid bit might shed some light on it.
