Ahhhh ha ha ha ha, that's a great one GSPTD. Perfect example. I have said for years, used knife sellers are worse than used car salesmen. They will lie in every sentence. They will sell you a lemon and tell you it's a peach. Buyer beware and beware and bewaaaaaare. You nailed it. ::tu::

What is with this handle material? My 70 isn't much better, but the materials used in the late '50s are some of the few pre-Delrin synthetics that I've dealt with that don't shrink or outgas.

Thanks I-Man, ::handshake:: .... ::paranoid:: and while you are here, ::paranoid:: ...have I got a great little creampuff for you, only used on Sundays by a little old lady from Pasadena  It's a "near-mint" Western 533, just "like-new", looks like it's never been sharpened ::paranoid:: . I-Man this knife is like a fine wine – it only gets better with age, just like you

So, ::paranoid:: ... what will it take for you to go home with this knife today? ::paranoid::

Reminds me of the C.W. McCall song “Classified!”

…”Outside of that, she’s a cherry!”

Looks like it was laid down too close to a heat source.

Yeaaaaah, that looks mint and unsharpened. And my brother in law is selling some beautiful beach front property in Wyoming. Cheap. Should I tell him you're interested? I know you'll love it! ::nod:: ::facepalm::

I see them like this from time to time, they seem to shrink up as they age. But it does look like the heat got to it. I put one like you see in the listing with shrunken scales in vinegar to clean the rust off it and after a couple of days the scales just disengaged ::doh:: ... ::facepalm::
