All About Pocket Knives

Started with a Rough rider Elephants toenail, dissasembled and threw one blade to the side. Reassembled using Amboyna Burl and some file work.

Dang! am I the one who caused all this? Come to AAPK and everyone looks at thier knives and appreciates them, now a whole slew of people are looking at thier knives and thinking "what could be done to make this knife better?"

Yes, your inspiration has definitely inspired me and probably a lot more MM wannabes. Got a question tho, How much compromise on the integrity of the back spring has the file work caused? Looks better than a plain one but how long will it last. Have you experienced any problems here???

I've never had much problem with the weakening or breaking of backsprings. I have only had one spring break due to filework, but I filed very deeply into the spring.

Mike, lookin good man! I wonder about filework as well, I usually don't cut all that deep, so I'm not to worried. Steel is still steel, and it's easy to forget when your doing alot of precise, delicate work. Just the other week I was doing a test pattern on an old, discarded backspring I don't plan to reuse. I filed very deep, then flipped it over and did a slightly different, very deep pattern in the underside. Even with some serious stress on it after the fact, I wasn't able to break it until I cranked the vise down on it and flexed it well past normal.
