Holley 1854-1930 Lakeville,Ct.-Theo Link Architect

Picked this up several years ago,probably has been posted somewhere before?
It doesn’t look like the knife was ever used,still has original finish. Not the prettiest pearl I’ve ever seen.
Theo Link was born in Germany in 1850, moved to St Louis in 1870s and became an architect. Apparently was famous in that area and moved to Bato Rouge and designed LSU campus buildings. He passed away in 1923 in Baton Rouge. Interesting story if you google him. Thanks for looking.

What a cool little knife and history. Recon it was his personal knife? Maybe given to him on some special occasion? Interesting.

Thanks guys for the comments. I think it was probably a gift or an award? He was apparently pretty popular in that part of the country back in those days. I got it in Lakeland Fl probably 6 years ago and always wondered how it got away from his family.

Good one, Bill, and the historical info on Link is quite interesting, especially the railroad connection.

I posted this Holley a couple weeks ago. Ike (Wakunda) asked if I would trade it, and I did. Yesterday I received an etched Ulery for the Holley. In addition Ike gifted me a Van Camp, and a Hollingsworth from Kane Pa. I’ve wanted a Hollingsworth for several years and never found one at the time when I could afford one. Ike had no idea and it was because of his generosity that I now have one. Thanks again Ike.

What a trio of great knives. I just wish I had a stable of cool knives like that, that I wouldn't mind letting go of in a trade. You guys are way above my pay grade.
