A French knife collector, from whom I've purchased some very high quality pocketknives, is publishing a new limited edition book in 2025. Philip Faiers' reference book An Encyclopedia of English Pocket Fruit Knife Makers: 1770-1930 will be released this Spring. It's a hardback book, about 200 pages, and has over 400 full color photos. It lists over 200 makers and includes historical information on the companies, biographical information on the founders, years of operation, location, and other interesting facts. It includes photos for each maker, as well as photos of silver hallmarks and the maker's registered trademark. Only 120 copies will be published.

The price is $85 and shipping from France to anywhere in the world is $10. A payment of $45 reserves a copy with the balance due when published in March. For more details or to reserve your copy email Philip at [email protected].

That sounds very cool and useful. Would they be signed copies? Thanks.

Knowing Philip, I have no doubt he would gladly sign your copy if asked. In fact, I'm sure if you wanted a particular inscription (for example as a gift to someone) he would accommodate that too.

I've learned that one of my knives will be in Philip's book. A mint condition engraved knife from 1851 described in this post: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... r#p1035870

I believe I've bought a few knives from that man.
It's been a while; I'm not sure which ones now.
It was nice dealing with him. ::nod::
