All About Pocket Knives

I have a pretty large display case of Case knives that I inherited. They are from around 1970 best I can tell and enclosed behind glass. I can see some finger prints and light rust on some of the blades and would like to know the best process for cleaning and also protecting for future. Thanks

Sorry for your loss. That’s an awesome legacy to receive as well as a big responsibility.
There’s lots of good info on how to clean, preserve and protect here on AAPK. But don’t let the volume of info bog you down, the bottom line is that at a minimum you need to get some light oil on the knives soon to stop that rust.

Looks like possibly a number “35 Special” display case. One of several models that were available from Case to retail dealers for many years. The cabinets are made from cherry wood, made for Case by a local cabinet maker and the boards assembled in the Case factory. Dealers could customize the display with which knives or accessories they wanted on the board. I have one like it but the board has different items than yours. FWIW here’s a picture from an old Case catalog.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Did you notice the cracked glass in the bottom right corner? Someone has glued the piece back in place and it has been that way for years but Just curious would you consider replacing that piece of glass and trying to find the decals or leave it as is?

If it was mine I’d replace the broken glass. Not sure if the decal is original or was added later. Those decals occasionally come up for sale on eBay. Several have sold recently https://www.ebay.com/itm/126824512013?_ ... R9z2-4-AZQ
