Help me figure this one out???

Not sure what this blade is? Part of me says broken, re profiled, the other part says manufactured this way?? Any thoughts?

Interesting...... I'm leaning towards manufactured that way but I can't wait till someone who knows for sure comes along and solves the mystery.

It is used to strip Romex cable IIRC.

So, the blade is called a stripping blade? Used for stripping the outer white plastic skin? It does look like a large seam ripper??!!!

Many years ago, a friend of mine worked in the bagging room at a plant where they made lignite coal into charcoal briquettes. Most of the production was sold in sewn paper bags, and he carried a fixed blade tool in a leather sheath, the blade of which was very similar to the pictured one.

yeh, that seems like the right idea! it would be perfect for opening sewn sacks.

Looks like an electrician's knife, I would say made that way.

I also thought that my first one was a broken blade. But no, it was designed that way to strip the sheathing off of Romex wire. I didn't try it, as I took that knife apart and modded it, but it sure looks capable!
