All About Pocket Knives

I know nothing about these knives, other than what I have learned over the past few days. Most from this form...and 99% of that from ZZ.

With that, I have made some headway with the time-line spreadsheet. It is a work in progress and needs to be edited and updated as I learn new information/terminology.

I have done this to help clear the mud in my brain.

I huge thanks to ZZ for helping me get an understanding for this process. I hope this helps others as well.

Below is what I have. The top two were give to me when I was a kid.

The 648B (D) was give to me Christmas of 1980

The L48A (guard cut)(1968-1975?), was give to me sometime between 1974 and 1975. I have a photo of me with my first deer and you can barely see the front portion of the sheath under my vest on my 10th birthday Nov 1976.

The third knife was give to me just a few days ago by my dad (81). He thought it was his brothers. The knife has definitely been manipulated, new leather (but not sanded smooth), and the guard may be incorrect. Does not fit properly.

Owe, I was looking at the Western Collector's topic but since I do not collect these, I figured I better stay in this area of the forum.

Just a quick glance shows various errors/confusions.

Western had ZERO fixed blades, other than kitchen knives, from 1913 to 1925 and they were never marked Western.

The stamp identified as being from 1977 on is the Camillus era stamp (U.S.A. ... model No.)
The Western/Western-Coleman stamp overlapping the Camillus stamp starting in 1992 was NEVER used by Camillus.

A nice idea, but I think you are trying to cram 10#s of "stuff" into a 5# bag

Absolutely, that's why I said it is a work in progress...and is for my brain as well, not really for anyone else's brain....just started this thing a few days ago in order to clear the mud in my brain. Replies like this, with the correct data is how it gets cleared up.
