All About Pocket Knives

So I got this Western Trapper, it came for small money because it has one of the scales trying to go it own way. My first thought was to mix up some epoxy or some super glue and gently lift the scale and apply then clamp...other than the lifting, the scales are in nice condition and the knife is in good condition as well....so I don't think I want to have new scales put on, but I didn't want to do something that would mess things up if some day I decide it needs bone or stag. So is there a better way to fix this than glue?

First, gently slide some type of thin metal probe wrapped in cloth soaked with rubbing alcohol under the end of the scale that has pulled loose, and clean out as much dirt, oil, gunk, etc. as you can from under the scale and let it dry. Then squirt in some medium zap-a-gap (or other strong adhesive) under the scale and repin the end that has pulled loose. Just my method.

Adding to Herb's idea, I also use dental floss to get into the tighter spots...

I typically remove the scale so that I can clean underneath it, then glue and repin. But that is probably overkill. Listen to Glenn and Herb, and I don't think you can go wrong!

re pin it. glue will eventually fail.

I cleaned it with some strips from .22 gun cleaning patches and floss and denatured alcohol. I then used the some strips and was able to tack it down with some Lock Tite Super Glue. I have carried it for a couple of days with it still holding tight. I am really liking the knife and I think that if/when the glue fails, I may have it re-handled.
