All About Pocket Knives

Just received the Christmas catalogue from SMKW.
It's going to be their last mail order catalogue as they are discontinuing production.
I have been getting their catalogue since the 1980's and it makes me kinda sad. Oh well,nothing lasts forever.

Got mine yestiddy, kinda hate to see it go.

Yet, Uline has an absolute brick they send me 4x a year even though I haven't ordered a thing from them. That's gotta cost a lot to print.

While I recently got one that only has Case knives I haven't received their X-Mas yet. I tossed most of mine into boxes. I do not know any other place I could research what years RR models were offered. I like reading through them but have mostly been ordering off their website for awhile because I can only learn what's on sale by looking at their website. IIRC my 6254SS Trapper with natural bone decorated with tang stamps was from last years X-Mas catalog. It's a good knife to take to gun shows to help date Case knives.

I sometimes receive two copies of SMKW catalog but haven’t ordered anything in years. Aside from a few pages it’s mostly full of Chicom junk including stuff other than knives. I won’t miss it.

BTW I get that U-Line “brick”also, even though I’ve never ordered anything from them. Don’t know how I got on their mailing list.

The SMKW catalog is one of my favorite knife publications to browse through. I have many from the 1990's and wish I could find more of the older ones. I don't know what it cost to have the Christmas catalog designed, printed, and mailed, but no doubt it was expensive. Years ago, I read their Christmas catalog generated $1 million dollars in sales. The on-line sales have no doubt cut into that. They also had Zippo's and other collectables. I will miss it. A great source of information is gone.

I always enjoy looking through it, even if I don't order anything. Usually all of their "deals" are online. And it is quite a publication.
