All About Pocket Knives

Yesterday I was able to purchase a knife collection consisting of mostly Scandinavian puukko knives. This collection was previously owned by the late Dr. Richard Stein. He was well known in the knife and sword community and ran the Japanese sword index website. He was also a talented knife maker, and gifted many of his one of a kind creations to his friends. I have a handful of these one of a kind pieces. Unfortunately I can not keep everything, so I will be listing some of this collection for sale in my AAPK member store in the future

Would this Dr. Stein have been from New Jersey?

I’d definitely move quickly to get the fixed blades out of their sheaths and the folding blades out of those plastic bags - they both harbor unwanted moisture.

Nice purchase, you should do well with both cherry picking for yourself and selling the residual. You should add a link to your AAPK store so people know where to look for these knives in the future.

I do believe that; just one of those (just one) display cases filled with knives would make a GREAT POS exchange group for the March 2025 POS.

Seriously, though...you have an awesome group of knives, Painter. Congrats to you on being able to obtain them.

Several years ago l contacted a Rich Stein in New Jersey about evaluating a pair of Japanese swords l had purchased. He had previously translated the characters on a dagger for me. The swords he wanted to examine in person but l could not travel there at the time. Maybe he had moved to Virginia.

Thanks. Got home with them late yesterday evening and didnt have any free until I posted those photos. Have been removing sheaths and plastic as im sorting through the cases today. I'll drop a link to my store, but it will be at least a few days until I list any of this stuff

Could very well be the same person as I do not know where or if he had lived elsewhere before Virginia
