Just got this ladies knife with glove hook The blade is stamped Rector & Wilhelmy. Hook Phoenix NY. I see other companies with similar combinations. Any thoughts? Well made late 1800s pearl knife. Not a Central City knife but extremely similar

Great knife!! It's possible that it's either a Central City or a Phoenix Knife Co as Rector and Wilhelmy was in business during both of those periods.

I have a R&W ivory jack that has an Ulster secondary blade,and "Clean Clipper" etch.

I like it! If that's the one that was on eBay, you can blame me for driving the price up...sorry not sorry (as my kids would say).

Yes I got this knife from eBay. Thanks for price increase LOL. I'm researching more. Likely marketed by Phoenix as you are right it’s the same time frame. I have learned years ago, that many knife companies did not make all their own knives. Something to think about. More as I discover. The great part of this hobby is we are still uncovering new and interesting finds. Thank you for indulging my vintage knife passion

Here's my R&W with an Ulster secondary blade.

This makes me wonder if their use in combination blades was unique to the New York area. Both Phoenix and Ulster are in NY. It would be interesting to see if anyone has a combination of blades from somewhere else.

Looks like they were restamping blades with their own name.

I can see that clearly on Rogers example.
