Unusual opening Stag handle knife unmarked. Maker?

Liked the stag on this one when I 1st saw it. The question was how many knife guys does it take to figure out how to open it. 3 of us took turns for about 1/2 hour and did not figure it out. A interested bystander ( not a knife guy) discovered that the rear of the handle is spread out and the halves are rotated to open the knife. No makers mark. Ideas? Looks Henkels to me. About 5 1/8” closed.

Sorry, I can't help you with a maker KJ, but it is a very interesting knife with very nice stag scales. I wonder why there are what looks like 2 pins going through the the front bolsters?

Well that’s on one side only, think it’s to keep the blade from rotating once the knife is opened if that makes any sense.

Barry Woods had a patent on a design like that back in the 1970s. The pictured knife looks older than that.

I honestly can't figure out how the knife works, with pictures and description included....
But that stag!
Almost looks like winterbottom on the lighter side.
Looks German to me. That's all I got for you.

Thanks to all for the responses. It’s not a knife a fellow wanted really quick use of but it would not close in you when being used.
Kinda looks like Barry Woods adopted the idea from a knife maybe a hundred years ahead of his time.

The rear bolster is sprung some so there is a gap. I’m not willing to hork on it and try to correct that so it lays flat like it should.

That style of corkscrew makes me think that knife is getting to the century mark, maybe older.
Someone on AAPK probably has some insight into that. There are guys on here that can identify brands by punch blade styles, can opener styles, etc….

No idea on maker but it's got to be German for sure. That knurled up stag was a German Solingen trademark pre-1980.

Also guessing its German, based on the stag and the pins.
However, it could also be French I suppose (they are usually famous for liking corkscrews on their knives)...
Odd that it is not marked. I've never seen anything like it!
