All About Pocket Knives

Can anyone give me a idea or direction in identifying this pocket knife I found in a box of junk it has red handles-no visible pins holding it together,has 4 blades,3 on one side and can opener on the other end(2 knife blades,a saw,and can opener= 4)-the emblem on the side has a extended cross with 2 lines to make the cross-says colonial prov usa on base of main blade. Probably a cheap knock off but still would like to know what kind it is-will share a picture when I figure out how-lol. Many thanks

Colonial Swiss Master--yes, a copy of the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. But, US-made and not that bad (not Swiss quality, but still miles ahead of the generic Chinese garbage knockoffs).

If I'm not mistaken, the Swiss Army-style can opener means it's a little newer. I have a Red Ryder-branded Colonial that has that saw and can opener--so, '80s or '90s I thiink.

Chances are, those scales friction fit onto the handle.

That's a Colonial #2003 from their Swiss Master Series. Its the smallest of the line, the largers being the 2005, 2006 and 2008. They manufactured these in the 80's.

They had a similar but separate and earlier line that contained the mountain guide, super camper, sportsman, and executive.

Though they are swiss army style but not victorinox or wenger, they aren't knock offs either. They're nice knives with decent 440 stainless. Colonial made low cost knives, but good users. An ad of theirs read " You can buy a more expensive knife, but not a more effective one"

Here's a picture of mine that I happened to have on hand. I was actually showing a friend the knot work for the lanyard on the bone handled coast, but also present are my 2008 Back Packer, and 2003...I actually don't know the model name

Get some oil on those joints, clean it up a little, sharpen it, and in your pocket it goes.

The #2003 is the Alpine

Almost five inches closed. When you open the big blade you have to press the small hard to release the big blade back in the liners. The shield is pinned flush with plastic handles. Blade is stamped with a F and K. Don’t know what brand that is.

Could you post a closeup of the blade stamp? The handles look like jigged bone rather than plastic and the steel pivot pin could id it as German.
