Interesting Scagel whittler pattern - out of my price range but sure is interesting

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Scagel folding knife quite like this one. Too bad that one of the blade is broken off.
Would love to see a custom maker take a shot at replicating this one!

For those who may view this thread after the OP link disappears, here is a picture of the referenced knife. It’s the only picture I found on the linked site.
I would not spend the $3800 asking price based on one picture.
And a broken blade too! JMO. (I'm not a Scagel collector though so maybe the price is not out of line).

I saw 8 photos on the listing. Here are two more. Still not enough, IMO, to justify the asking price...Scagel collector or not. For that price, I would expect photos showing every aspect of the knife from multiple angles including top down with blades open and closed, the back spring and clear close ups of all stamps/markings.

Based on what I’ve seen on old Scagel items, especially a very unusual multiblade folder, this price is probably about right. Would I pay it? No.
I’m sure if this knife had the third blade they would be asking $5K plus for it. Remember the Lucie auction from 2012? Well look at what some of those items went for and remind yourself that that was 12 years ago now…

Rare or not, Expensive or not, that thing is about as pretty as a bucket of eyeballs with the good ones picked out.

Well maybe not pretty but an interesting bit of cutlery history. Actually looks pretty refined for a Scagle pocket knife. The Scagle story is interesting and from accounts he was a character. Most of us would be tickled to find a Scagle in the wild for a bargain price. Better than any other of hundreds of makers? Probably not, but like any collectable the value comes from who and when the object was made.
