Random saturday afternoon post, posting some older leverlocks. G.Grafrath, Puma, tang stamp Hubertus, Klaas, Bonsa…I’ve been carrying Weidmannsheil lately, but don’t have any photos.

Most impressive group, Scott, it's not hard to see that you're a big fan of automatics, just like me! You have posted some very cool examples so far, please keep em' comin'!

Do you collect other switchblades also or just lever locks?

I'm a fan of the tang stamped Hubertus as well.

Hate to admit it, but your post has me green with envy. A good German leverlock is a "holy grail" knife for me. I have yet to find one, in good condition, that I could afford to buy. One day...

Thanks man! I mainly collect German knives, leverlock autos, lockbacks, and camp knives. I still have a large American stag lockback collection but don’t actively collect those anymore

They are going up and up every year, but you can still find a deal now and then. I’d keep checking here in the sales section and on the Facebook auctions.

I have a few other modern Microtechs and Protecs that I carry but don’t really collect them

Great line-up of quality knives, Scott, and all appear to be in top-notch condition. I'm seeing at least 2 different lengths in your picture, mostly the standard 7 3/4" open, and then 4 that are longer, are the longer modes the 10" open, especially the one with red covers? Thx man!
I have a few Weidmannsheil manuals scattered through out my accumulation and I really love their quality, but even though I have handled and fired many brands of automatics I've never handled let alone fired a Weidmannsheil, I bet I'm in for a treat once I finally do one day. I love me my autos!

I remember bidding on the one with the light/dark stag someplace. I really liked that one.

Serious question - are the German leverlock autos (Hubertus for example) robust/durable enough for everyday use? Could I reasonably replace my Boker or Schrade Walden slip joint with one?

Oh for sure. If you are a crazy figiter (spelling?), and are opening and closing all day, sure parts can wear out. But they are replaceable and a qualified repair person can fix it. The spring is usually the culprit. Another thing, as I have learned from over the years and from wise advisors, you should depress the lever with one hand and then close the blade with the other and then release the lever. It will cut down on wear and prolong the life.

I have been using that method of closing my auto knives, Scott, both lever-locks and push buttons, since I became interested in them long ago. By doing it that way the wear and tear that the sear has to be subjected to is far lessened cuz the tip isn't dragging across hard metal nearly as often. I believe the reason for a V ramp to the catch-hole is installed for the same reason, lesser number of times the sear-tip drags across hard metal, eventually wearing down, resulting in peeking and/or non-closing. Just always made sense to me.

Are you heart set on finding an older knife? ‘Cause Grindworx lists a couple different sized, new Hubertus knives in stock.

I didn’t know they stocked them either. Until a month ago. A little rich for my blood, right now, but nice stuff for sure. For most folks, a Latama, or a Burn custom is what they might call: “aspirational,” but for me, that means any blade over $100.

I just discovered Burns. Amazing stuff. Want to see one in person. But I could NEVER swing that kind of dough, for a knife.

I too have yet to handle or fire a Burn knife, Luke, but you don't need to look much farther than his site to see he makes gorgeous knives, as I'm sure you know. Paul has a reputation in the knife community as a maker who "over builds" his knives, so they're solid.

Regarding the cost, if you read through the information you'll find that he will accept post-dated checks as payment. I tried to order the "Triangle" a couple of yrs. ago using P/D checks, cuz to layout a smaller amount over a few months was doable for me, but his bank wouldn't accept a Canadian check, so the deal died for the time being. I intend to try again once I can figure out a payment method that works for both of us, and I have the funds.
I am retired and by myself, hence my money is my money, so to drop that much on a knife I love is not such a big deal, plus, I am totally irresponsible when it comes to money, so.....!

More on a German Leverlocks line, I've had this Hubertus 7 3/4" "Slimline" for awhile, but always wanted a copy of their "For Export Only", due to blade length in Germany, 10" "Slimline" model, and was recently fortunate to find one at a reasonable cost, because most listings are waaay over priced due to their rarity. Mine has black micarta covers making it particularly rare, and the price was irresistible!
I also threw in some pics of my treasured Matt Diskin 10" dual-action linerlock for you to drool over! lol! Enjoy!
