All About Pocket Knives

I bought this about ten years ago for those delicate bits that need attention when dressing deer.

The tang stamp says 'Western W81 USA Stainless'. I know nothing about this knife other than it served it's purpose well.
I think it's fairly modern, but don't know what W81 is or what it's comparable to as a steel.

Anyone know a little more about these?

W81 is the model number. "W" indicates a wood handle. "81" is the pattern type. STAINLESS, obviously indicates that the blade steel is stainless steel.

The lack of a date code AND the order of the model number and U.S.A. line in the stamp indicates that it was made by Camillus.

They only appear in the 2005 and 2006 Camillus catalogs, although they appeared in the Coleman-Western catalog of 1991. They do NOT appear in the Camillus produced 1993 catalog, or any other catalog up to and including the 2003 catalog.

No clue as to why Camillus waited nearly 12 years to reintroduce a very versatile pattern.
