All About Pocket Knives

I had to send my 2017 Microtech Combat Troodon Bowie back a second time to Microtech Support, because of the same problem blade some times would not deploy and also it was very hard on my thumb to operate.

It was shipped to them on July 24th 2024 and today it was back Sept. 05 2024, and they did a great job of getting it to work right, this time they replaced all the internals and that was what it needed now when the button is pushed it will deploy and lock the blade solid.

Anyway Microtech is back in good graces with me.

Here is the picture of my Microtech Combat Troodon, i had almost given up on it ever working right but someone posted give it another trip back to Microtech and this time they fixed it.

I have looked at the new Gen 3 Microtech OTF knife designs and i am not impressed they have IMHO down scaled them and it's not what i like, sure i like the easer on thumb for deploying the blades but all the many other changes turn me off.

The new Microtech Combat Troodon Gen 3,Interceptor Blade Shadow that is causing so much demand just blows my mind ,as to what makes someone pay $800+ for that balde design with that saw tooth item that comes from the 60s and the HELO's rescue's durning the Vietnam War.

Anyway i still feel the older Combat Troodon's are the best.

Looks awesome and I'm glad they stand behind their product and got it working properly.

The $35 Taiwanese Lightnings are hit and miss, but what can you expect for $35?

There has been a lot of OTF knife knockoffs many have worked really well, and i feel it's the major reason makers like Microtech and others have worked quickly to scale down many of their high dollar knives at a price point to compete with the knockoffs.

Got this in 2022, very happy with it.

Very nice Combat Troodon Yearnslow i feel we who have the older CTs have a stronger and better built knife then these new CTs.

I am not happy with their new design they may be easer on ones thumbs but i feel the original design of the single strong spring and this gave the blade a strong hard locking action.

Also changing the glass breaker making it smaller i don't understand this design change.

My thoughts are Microtech are wanting to make the Combat Troodon less of a miitary/police knife and more of a civilian knife, to push it's sales to more buyers.

Yes, it's quite aggressive looking, especially the double edged versions.
I actually took the clip off mine as it was digging into my hand when firing.
I just carry it at night if I'm out and about, last ditch stuff etc.
The engineering is quite impressive.

I wouldn't have thought it would be much use to a soldier 'in the field', but the police, yes, and possibly some agencies.

At the same time i bought my Combat Troodon i also bought the Microtech UltraTech, it's the flagship OTF Microtect knife, think is was the first of their OTF knives.

It has always worked great and being some what smaller then my CT it's carried more, it's not a small knife so don't get the idea it is not a knife you can't fully depend on.
