Rough first try.

Last week I acquired a Marble's Safety Folding Hunter, a "Holy Grail" for me. It had no sheath so I thought I'd make one. Went to Hobby Lobby and found two perfect-sized soft leather pieces and some rivets. The rough, rookie attempt is below. I stitched it with waxed floss that we use to rig mackerel baits for Blue Marlin fishing. The knife fits very securely but the soft leather makes it difficult to extract. May try again with some stiffer stock. Had fun doing it. J.O'.

If you are not careful, you will buy some more leather, watch some more videos....and start a brand new hobby!
That is a good, functional sheath.
Keep it up!

Doesn't look all that "rough" to me. Looks like a nice, functional "first try".

Great start and kudos for getting out there and getting some leather and giving it a go. There are a lot of great videos on you tube with tips tricks and so on if you want to try another sheath! Food for thought on leather. When i make my sheaths I use Veg tan. This can be wet molded to shape and also be stamped or carved if you wish to fall down that rabbit hole too

Great start and if you have any question give a holler Id be happy to help if you have any questions
Best
Ross

You're knife is beautiful. Your sheath will protect it.
I think you will be happier with better leather as Ross points out.
You made the effort; that's the big deal.
