All About Pocket Knives

I was just doing some knife shopping online and we all have our tastes. Some knives I won't buy because they look too cheesy or cheap or I just don't like the design.
Is there a knife or knives you absolutely will not buy?

I won’t buy another automatic knife without a safety switch to keep the blade from springing open in my pocket. I don’t care how “safe” the firing button is touted to be.

I also won’t buy a knife with two redundant blades such a Muskrat or some Congress patterns.

Generally speaking, I stay away from knives with a blade longer than 3.0 inches because I can’t legally carry those in my location. It really irritates me when I find a knife that I want to buy but the blade is 3.25 inches. Or even 3.125 inches. Unfortunately, that happens way too often.

I wont buy a China knife. Don't care how good it looks or what kind of steel they claim it's made of. They hate our country so screw them.

On a more touchy subject, I just don't like white or yellow handles. Great if you like em but not my type.

A hawkbill. I prefer sharpening on old fashioned flat rectangular stones. Hawkbills can't be sharpened on flat stones so no hawkbills for me. For the same reason I do not like any blades with concave edge lines.

Also, I will not buy automatics or other knives outlawed under our spring knife law. That includes knives that open with a flip of the wrist and gravity knives even though they have no spring. I do not have much interest in knives designed around opening fast one handed anyway.

While I agree with Railsplitter's opinion that redundant blades are not as desirerable as all different shapes I still enjoy many knives that have duplicate blades.

Come to think of it, I refuse to buy knives that cost $200 or more.

Too many to list with too many reasons I won't.

I will buy what I like the looks of, if I can afford it.

No knives made in Pakistan. For that matter no cheap knives. No knives with brass bolsters. No celluloid. Not a fan of yellow or orange handled knives, but I have a few. No large multi-tool knives. If I think of more that are on my no go list, I will add them later. These are just the ones off the top of my head.

I own a few that were throw ins on deals, but I don't buy Chinese or anything made by Stan Packy.

Thanks for starting this thread! The responses so far are interesting and some make me want to shout out, "But what about...?" I'll agree for political reasons about not buying most foreign knives. I'm sure we could discuss likes and dislikes for a long time.
It would be a sad place if we only had one flavor of ice-cream.

I draw the line at SE Asia knives over $100. If you like them, fine, but not for me.

Pretty much sums up my list also. I try my best not to buy any counterfeit stuff (if in doubt, I’m out!) I have made rare exceptions to the “broken handle pieces missing” if it’s MOP, and a rare or unusual pattern, in which case I’ve had it repaired with a closely matching piece of MOP. If I have any repairs done I respect the history of the piece.

I go the extra mile to avoid anything made in China. Too many great knives and other goods made elsewhere to spend my money aiding the Chicoms.

Generally knives made in China or Pakistan unless I am just looking for a junk knife
to have and don't care about much else

Generally yellow knives. I do have a yellow Case trapper I like to use outside
however. Makes it easy to find if I accidently drop it or don't put it where it belongs.

I have too Ken, like the genuine Remington BSA Heroism knife that came to me broken and will forever (in my lifetime) remain that way.

No wobbly blades, no used up or broken tip blades, no celluloid (but have a few), no Paki knives, and nothing under 3 1/4" closed.

Most knives I won't buy. It has to really appeal to me to buy it. Unfortunately, a lot of them appeal to me.
