All About Pocket Knives

This one was part of an auction lot that I won a while back and I have posted a few that were worth restoring over the past few months. I assumed the rest were just junk I would use for parts. I just took this one apart a few days ago and removed all the rust, gunk, etc. with my wire wheel. Once I had all the parts from this one all cleaned up, bent back into shape, and laid out, I decided it would be fun to see if I could possibly make some kind of user out of it. Sorry, I really wish I had taken pictures before the demolition process. The new scales are Gabon ebony, and both blades have amazingly good snap for a former rust bucket. Unfortunately, nothing I can do about the nasty pitting. I know, "one man's trash is another man's treasure"!

LoomFixers are my favorite pattern. I love your choice of ebony for the handles. It is a no nonsense work knife now. The pitting wouldn’t bother me a bit.

Nice save! Just remember if you ever decide to list it for sale, the "pitting" is actually "patina".

I love the steel in those old Tested knives, they hold a great edge and are easy to sharped.

I know when I start on a badly pitted knife, I want to make it look "new". BUT,,,, you have to stop on those pits at a certain point in order to keep some blade integrity. Functionality over beauty!

Herb on some of your saves you use stag and other wonderful handle materials but the simplicity of that black wood on that old tool can't be topped. It is as it should be. It begs to be in the hand or pocket or on the work bench.
