Case XX Buffallo Calsp Knife with Stag Scales?

I acquired this not so long ago and have never seen another one like it with the buffalo etch on the blade rather than a bull dog.
Beginning to wonder if this was a rescaled version or if it’s even legit. Did come in the wooden box…

Definitely rehandled. Case never made a stag Buffalo. Also note the "Delrin" shield - Case would have used the "Bone" shield on a stag handled knife.

Thanks I kind of figured it was rehandled. I wish I researched this more before purchasing as the seller didn’t disclose or didn’t know perhaps.

The knife still has some value, but hard to say how much it would be worth.

To someone who collects authentic knives “original as they left the factory”, it has lessened value. There are some who care not one bit about whether it is original, but care more about to whether it’s aesthetically pleasing to their taste. It could be that someone thought stag would look better than the original wood (Pakkawood) covers, and put stag covers on it accordingly. To them it may have some value.
There are also some who thought stag would bring more money and they could make a profit off re-handling it in stag and passing it off to an uneducated, unsuspecting buyer as being an authentic knife.
That nefarious intent is when it crosses the line into being called a counterfeit.

I wish I would have questioned it more at the time. Ii purchased it from a seller here no less. No idea if they were aware but anyway. I may put it out there for sale and look at other options
