Seems to suggest they may be trying to introduce some automation into the mix. Electromechanical Designer may suggest that's who they are tasking with figuring out what they need.
First of all: This is, apparently, what Wire EDM is.

Wire EDM is what Case used to use when they made the annual Case/Bose Collaboration knives. I don’t believe Case uses it in regular production but I could be wrong.

If I understand correctly Case is using it on the Bill Ruple collaborations they recently released.

I thought they might be but I hadn’t read anything about it yet.
Thanks Ken.

Makes me wonder what GEC has up their sleeve.
Wire EDM is a very precise and expensive process. Considering the quality that they produce now, I can barely imagine what they could create with this process.
I don’t follow GEC anymore. Have there been any announcements regarding a premium line?

Wire EDM is used to cut out the steel fixtures that are used to stamp out parts such as blades, liners, shields, etc.. The tolerances have to be very precise. I have a couple of those fixtures around here somewhere, if I find one I'll post a pic.

I had several Ruger revolvers customized and he used EDM for some of the work like barrel cutting & porting and slab siding my ruger redhawk barrel. As stated, the wors precise and smooth.
