Here’s mine, a vintage Kutmaster cattle knife that was in pristine condition…

I love a good Cattleman knife and that looks a great one! Nice condition and great scales. A quality "new pick-up" and "KNIFE FIND OF THE DAY" ... not to be redundant....

I just picked this up yesterday, at an antiques flea market, for $30. This fellow purportedly custom makes knives, though for the price, I can't imagine how he does it. No marking at all. Nice fit and finish.

Nice "Knife Find of the Day".
Whoever built it left that sheep foot dangerously high.

You are welcome! That Cattleman is a great find. It looks to be in really mint condition. I have a ton of Stockman knives and only a couple of Cattleman knives, I wish I had more, I really like the pattern. ...

No way he makes those for $30. We have a guy at most of the area gunshows that has a whole table full of knives that he "makes". When I questioned him as to why he doesn't tang stamp his knives, he admitted that he has a "guy" make them for him. When I ask why the "guy" doesn't mark the knives, he hee haws around until he finally admits that everything he sells is from Pakastan. Sadly every time I see him at gunshows, he has people at his table buying his story and his knives.

Yeah, I was thinking he might source the knife and add the scales. I suppose you are closer to correct; the only reason I wondered is because this knife really does have a pretty good fit-and-finish, unlike most Pakistani stuff I have seen. I guess time will tell whether the steel is any good.

You got to be right O.C. I have been to a few knife and art/craft shows and there is no way it can be sold for 30 dollars
and be made of good materials. The guy is a decent craftsman though. Time will tell whether the knife is worth
30 dollars if it is used for a few months.

I probably would have paid 30 dollars just to see the results.

I would have to agree that at least that aspect of “fit” should be addressed and until then carry a few band-aids when you carry that knife but for $30 it’s a good field trial.

O.C. your story is not uncommon. I worked for a guy at a huge gem & mineral show that had the same scheme. So, everything he sells is from Pakistan, but he tells everyone "It is his company and he has a "partner" and he designs the knives and the partner makes them... He was probably paying $20 for a knife and selling it for $200-250 at the show.

I have been to other gun show around the state and now I see guys everywhere using the same "tricks" to try and pass the knives of as "custom USA" pieces. Not cool!!!

Found this today at the Longest Yard Sale in Michigan. Stamped TRUE on the pocket clip and the steel type on the blade. Made for ACE Hardware, it features G10 handles and ball bearings on the pivot pin. For 5 bux l think l' ll keep it around for awhile.

We have a fellow that sets up at local gunshows who calls himself a custom knife maker. He glues factory blades of dubious origin into poorly shaped guards and deer antler. Visited a bit one time when he was set up next to me. Said he “makes” 20-30 knives a week. He gets $50-90 for his knives. He is a disabled vet and has found a nitch because folks do buy his knives. He truly thinks he is a knife maker. I bite my tongue and keep my thoughts to myself. Fortunately the “thought bubble” is not a real thing.

The guy I was helping out had about ten tables at a gem & mineral show and was selling to "non-knife" people mainly: the wife buying a knife as a gift for her husband, the son or daughter buying for a parent. In cases like that, the customer may not ask the deeper questions "Did you actually make this? Was it forged, stock removal, or a blank blade" or "Is it made in the USA?" To sell a $20-$40 value Pakistani made knife and represent it as a $290 custom made USA knife is as unethical as it is profitable..... I was helping him set up and break down and in the end, I couldn't help him out anymore.

These have been on sale so thought I’d grab a few. Just got done treating the handles. Looking forward to using these. The NL2 Odin is massive. I can’t imagine how much bigger the NL1 Tor must be.

My latest acquisition,,,the Mossy Oak Whitetail deer knife! Bought it for myself for my birthday.

A buncha new/old stuff: an old KaBar coke bottle with a blade that had seen better days. Replaced it with a reject Western ground to fit. A Camillus 41 with the name ground off; l think because of the handle coloring. A Robeson 9222295 with wood handles and a missing shifld. An lmperial Kamp King with a DISNEYLAND etch. Five bux each. Almost forgot the Remington(Brazil)cleaver for 2 bux.

Joe I have had Case knives with the sheep foot high like this knife.

It seems odd that anyone would do that.
A real risk of slicing your finger with that blade.
I have worn blades on some knives that I try to get the edge in the blade well.

It is odd, maybe the final inspection is poorly done. Yesterday after reading the post on this, I went to the garage and lowered the kick on my 8OT. That sheep foot blade was really high. This was a unused older knife. Wish I had taken pictures. Should not be this way on new knives.
