I would like to feature a small watch fob pen knife stamped...( A. Jordan Co Germany) This knife/Fob has two blades
Beautiful French Ivory handles; approx two and one half inches closesd and in excellent condition for it's age
Goins book lists the time made 1876-1926 for these knives...
Suprised to find one in this condition around 100 plus years old
I would like to see other survivors out there...I'm sure they are a quite a few as almost everyone had a pocket watch back in the day!! ::tu::

Thank you...When you think of how many different companies made pocket watches; the same should hold true for the watch fobs..
All different sizes and shapes would make a quite interesting array to see and research!!

Wow, that knife is in great condition to be so old!
Those handles look very much like real ivory - they really don't make them like that anymore!

Thanks Reverand!!....Always a pleasure to hear from you!!
The handles actually looks better than the pictures shown; being stamped (Germany) dates the knife 1890 and after; therefore making the knife old enough to be ivory; but I wouldn't know how to check and see if it is ivory...some people recommend the hot needle trick..which involves heating a needle and holding against the material to see if the needle penetrates; if the needle don't then its bone, ivory ect...If it's delrin or plastic the needle will make a hole in the handle....I'm not into checking it that way!!

With the straight lines in the handle I bet it's French Ivory, a kind of celluloid. I'm not an expert but I think I'm right on this one. Sweet little knife.

Thanks doglegg
I would agree that it's french ivory as I've also heard about the straight lines; some other names I've heard waterfall, Ivorine a kind of a celluloid...
