All About Pocket Knives

I have a few knives with pocket clips, and occasionally I need to give the clip a little bend to tighten the clip’s tension. That’s a simple task when the clip is attached with torx screws. I recently acquired a knife with a riveted clip, and I would like to tighten up the clip with a small bend, but I haven’t had any success. I tried siding a dowel under the clip to the point of the bend and then pressing, but it didn’t have much effect.

Any suggestions?

Probably a dumb idea, but have you thought about filing the rivet heads off & then drilling & tapping the holes for torx bits? I am assuming this is a user & not a collector piece.

I have thought about that, but that’s a last resort for me…

Seems to me the dowel might be interferring and that the entire length of the clip could be pressed downward.
Maybe clamp the rivet side (firmly but carefully) and try to bend at the first crease.
I suppose if you padded the scales properly, a clamp could be used for the downward pressure too.
Does look like a sensitive job in not cracking the scales, but good luck !
