All About Pocket Knives

I am in need of help trying to identify what I have. This vintage pocket knife has no markings on the tang. It is about 3 3/4" long closed and has two blades, which are carbon steel. It has a brass liner between the blades and a silver bolster. I believe the handles are bone and it has a bomb shaped badge. Any assitance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hard to say with the marks obliterated. I looks like a Cattaraugus, "swell-center jack", pattern #-21284-SH. No trace of a pattern number on the pile side of the smaller blade? The handles look like "rough black" composite ? Catts had good stampings; odd there's nothing left. ??? Good luck with it. J.O'.

I agree with the handles being composite, not bone. They appear to have shrunk a little bit, which is normal and nothing to worry about.
I am not familiar with the knife pattern, but the "wormgroove" jigging on the handles does strongly resemble Cattaraugus.

It is a Robeson.

Handles look Robeson.

The black composition pressure-molded handles are certainly suggestive of Robeson.

They made very few coke bottles of that size, most were five inch single blade folding hunters or a smaller jack that was more swell-center than coke bottles.

Most coke bottle jacks I’ve seen of that size were “Stabber Jacks” with a saber-cut spear blade.

I cannot recall ever seeing one with sheepsfoot like that.

Certainly wouldn’t be surprised if they made it, though.

Annd the knife looks to have an “interframe” construction, in that the nickel-silver frame wraps around the edges of the handles. That is a patented Robeson process.

RR: Good eye on the frame. I thought it was just handle shrinkage but the close up shows the frame. J.O'.

As an inter-frame knife, there should be no handle pins. I do not see one at the top, but obviously, there is one at the bottom, but as there is no bottom bolster, there would have to be, wouldn’t there?
