Help with identification

I got this new knife, it's pretty old, i actually sort of inherited it.

Does it have any markings anywhere on it?

Without a look at a tang stamp we can’t be certain, but it looks a lot like a Kabar 1255 rigging knife. I don’t see the marlin spike that should have accompanied it.

OP's knife has a blade etch on the mark side near the spine half way down the blade.
The etch is going to be either
KA-BAR alone
OR
KABAR over STAINLESS STEEL
OR
Ka-bar over STAINLESS STEEL
The etch will determine what period the knife was made.
