Has anyone ever heard of John Follin or Fallin? I found this beautiful big Hawkbill today in Delaware. The blade is etched John Follin or Fallin on both sides and no tang mark. The pin is a slightly different color steel which makes me think the blade might be home made and put into an old handle. The blade is very well made and fits perfectly, tight and snappy. If it is a cobble, it was expertly done. Hope someone recognizes it. Thanks. J.O'.

The mark isn't acid etched. John Follin was a previous owner of the knife that scribed his name on the blade with an electric pen engraving type devise. The pin color suggests the pin is steel and consequently the knife is not American made.

Thank Gents, I've been digging too, nothing. (Thanks Wayne, I meant to say engraved.) Hope it's not some fake. It's mysterious. I got it for $18 so........ O'.

I would be guessing a German knife due to frame style and I agree that it’s a just steel pin such as Olbertz used on Schlieper knives.
Nice knife

Thanks Froe. I agree on the German look, or maybe French. Surprised it bears no mark. Just hoping its not a Asian fake. It looks old, but unworn. ::shrug:: J.O'.

Sorry JO, but I’m struggling to post a pic copied from a sold EBay listing. Darn iPad is too helpful for this old pc guy.
If you do an advanced search on sold listings under ‘Peres Hawkbill’ you will find a knife that I believe is a match. Same threaded bolster, four pins, etc…

Thanks Froe. I'll try that. I'm very familiar with D.Peres.Just puzzled at the lack of a tang stamp. O'.

I found it. The bolsters are identical. Judging from the pics, mine looks a bit bigger,(4-7/8") with thicker handles but that one may have been refinished and flattened down a bit. I really appreciate the e-bay tip. Guess it'll always be a "mystery" knife. ::handshake:: J.O'.
