That’s real bone. It’s cattle bone dyed to look like an Appaloosa horse.

Almost all bone used on pocket knives comes from cattle shin bones. Some knives were sold with camel bone as an exotic expensive option but unless they say otherwise you can assume it's bovine.

I have a Case SR6244 which is a real beauty. Case should bring
it back!
