All About Pocket Knives

Been kinda doing a survey of old knives that have now and owned in the past and I am somewhat dismayed as to the "green bone" concept'...is there really a green bone in the older models or is it just aged to the point of becoming faded from over the years of handling and ageing? It seem to me that the designation of green bone and redbone covers such a wide range of shades that almost any semblance of the red or green spectrum can be noted as red or green bone. I am satisfied with the red bone when it is the obvious original died color of the handles but we have allowed all kinds of shades of brown to be called red or green bone. I am open to being educated on this topic...comments please.

I have asked this question and have decided that there is no satisfactory answer forthcoming for some years now on this forum. There may not be one.

I had forgotten about my previous post Ken. Thanks for reminding me. It is obvious that my 82 years on this planet is beginning to compromise my recallection. My recent question was a somewhat spontaneous impulse resulting from seeing so many "claimed" green bone knives on ebay. I am very much aware of the green we, as old knife guys, call greenbone. Thanks for the reminder. You guys are great.
