All About Pocket Knives

I received the attached knife when I bought some old folding knives. I really don't know my fixed blades, but this one was interesting to me because of the small blade to handle ratio and the almost serrated tang.

I suspect this is a DIY knife that someone stamped themselves, but I thought I'd see what you big brains had to say. Also, does this style fixed blade with the short blade and large handle have a name?

I can’t answer your question, but sure looks like a great hiking/backpacking knife.

Depending on who used it, it could be a patch knife for muzzleloading or a caping knife for removing the headskin of game animals for taxidermy.
