All About Pocket Knives

These are fairly hard to find, I try to buy good one's if I find them.

That is a handsome knife, Dimitri. A unusual knife to me.

My understanding was blades like that became popular after the US Civil War. There were so many people missing an arm, it was not really considered a handicap. They were expected to take care of themselves.

That blade shape with its crescent tip could be opened on the pocket of a pair of blue jeans. It resembles a razor somewhat, but a razor is concave and sharpened very differently.

If you search one armed knife, you will find more of them.

Not really, it was what Cutlery companies called the blade style.

Has nothing to do with one arm men, press button knives were invented for them and a fixed blade design with a knife and fork at the end.

You said they are hard to find. If you use one armed knife in your search you will get more results.

Lol. Its could (probably?) be false, it’s been repeated a lot, but that doesn’t make it true. It always bothered me why have a second blade a one armed man couldn’t use?


Still it will yield different search results. If you are on the hunt, sometimes search the wrong name finds what you want.

Here is a Case Bradford 6205R. Decent shape for it's age.

I can’t vouch for the origin of the blade, whatever the inspiration was.

But I can say that my late brother-in-law, who lost his right arm from the elbow down in an accident at 14 years of age, carried a Case 62009RAZ as his EDC. I once asked him about the second blade. He actually could get it open if needed. (He had a prosthetic “hook” that he wore sometimes. You’d be surprised at the things he could do - he was a 6 handicap golfer and would take your money on a golf course quick, especially if you thought he couldn’t play! He hustled many a sucker.) He said if they made one with one blade he would have bought it.
